The application process gets handled within a few days at the Immigration office and some other offices around Asuncion. If your documents are in order it can take up to 90 days for your residency to be processed due to the increased numbers in applications at the immigration office from foreigners for residency.  It may take less than 90 days, but that is the maximum amount of time that it can take for your papers to go through. 

We do have an expedient process available at an additional cost.

Your Cédula can only get done once we receive your approved temporary residency. The Cédula gets done in a day with one of our team members and it can take up to 30 business day to receive your documents back.

To have a stress-free application process you would need the following documents.

  • Original  ID from the country of origin
  • Original Consular Visa and its verification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where required. (Most of countries don’t need a Visa to enter the country, so this we´ll do it together upon arrival)
  • Original of the Proof of entry into the country
  • Original Birth Certificate, issued by the competent authority in the country of issue, visa and legalized or apostilled.
  • Original of the Civil Status Certificate, issued by the competent authority in the issuing country, visited and legalized or apostilled, if applicable.
  • Original the current Criminal or Police Record Certificate, visa and legalized or apostilled (Required from 14 years of age):
  • Original  of the Background Certificate issued by INTERPOL (Required from 14 years of age).
  • Original of the Background Certificate for Foreigners, issued by the Information Technology Department of the National Police of Paraguay (Required from 14 years of age and done upon arrival)
  • Affidavit before the National Directorate of Migration of commitment to comply with and respect the National Constitution, the laws and other regulatory provisions that govern the national territory (issued by the DNM computer system when submitting the residence application ).
  • Affidavit before the National Directorate of Migration of your profession, activity or trade that you will carry out in the country and of the domicile established in the national territory (issued by the DNM computer system when submitting the residency application).

Yes, legally you can buy a car or property in Paraguay without being a resident.

You can exchange your drivers license for a Paraguayan drivers license without issue or you can speak to our firm to help you secure your Paraguay drivers license.
